Bobwhite Killdeer - 2 Little Flycatcher - 2 Horned Lark - 3 Violet-green Swallows - 151 - first flocking of the year observed. Crow Robin - 4 Audubon Warbler - 5 Purple Finch - 2 House Finch - 3 Goldfinch - 45 Towhee - 2 July 23, 1948 Fern Ridge Reservoir - 0750-2000, Ovc/40Brkn. Calm. Pied-billed Grebe White Pelicans Blue Heron Mallards Pintail female Wood Duck female Vulture - 1st one seen at 0830 Bobwhite Coots - 1 call they gave was not unlike a Goose Killdeer Wilson Snipe in marshy area at s outl. end - 4 Yellowlegs - a few Least Sandpipers - ? Gull - immatures Mourning Love Kingfisher California Woodpecker - 2 adults carrying black cherries to a tall black oak beside a barn in a farmyard not far from the gravel road. Gave churr notes. This black oak was a perfect spot for them. Lowny Woodpeckers - 2 Horned Lark Violet-green Swallows - flocker Cliff Swallows - 300 or more in small area of gravel road. Mostly immatures. Some just sitting, others evidently picking up grit, but I'm not sure.
