Killdeer Flicker Red-breasted Sapsucker Coast Jay Crows Oregon Chickadees Red-breasted Nuthatch Bush Tits Winter Wren Seattle Wren Varied Thrush Western Bluebirds Ruby-crowned Kinglets Golden-crowned Kinglets Evening Grosbeaks - small flock Purple Finch Oregon Towhee Oregon Junco Song Sparrow November 28, 1947, Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood - 1100-1645, NE 3-8 32-36° 6000' to 6500'. Gray Jays - many present in the pines, and firs, and around the lodge. Usually in small flocks, and very tame. Ravens - 2 of them flew over about 1830. Clarke Nutcrackers- very common and surprisingly tame, alighting among the parked autos to pick up scraps of food, even while the people are present. Not in flocks. Mountain Chickadees scattered in singles or small groups here and there in clumps of trees Nov. 29, 1947, Summit Meadows, Government Camp, 0800, 31°F. 3600'. Gray Jay Steller Jay Chestnut-backed Chickadees - a few in the hemlock woods. Nov. 29, 1947, Timberline Lodge, 1030-1700, 31-38°F, calm (SW at 3 in late p.m.). Gray Jays com on Ravens - 3 seen Clarke Nutcrackers common Mountain Chickadees Red-breasted Nuthatch - 1 flew over at about 6800' where only scattered, stunted trees Pine Grosbeaks - 2 diff. flocks of birds seen. Only one was verified as were. being this species; about 15 birds in a flock. December 3, 1947, Gravel Pits - Willamette River - 1515-1830 - 10 Ovc, cool. dark. No birds December 3, 1947, Avery Park - 1530-1550, 10 Ovc, 7/ cool, getting darker. Flickers calling Ruby crowned Kinglets in leafless trees and brush Oregon Chickadees in brush Golden-crowned Kinglets in firs Slender-billed Nuthatch Oregon Juncos Varied Thrush calling Song Sparrows. December 3, 1947, Brook Lane and S. Cemetery Hill. Flicker - Oregon Chickadee - Slender-billed Nuthatch - Seattle Wren ruby-crowned Kinglets - Audubon Warbler -- Song Sparrow.
