Sept. 6, 1946, Killam Creek, Tillamook Creek, 7-8- a.m. Red-breasted Sapsucker Coast Jay Crow Raven Chestnut-backed Chickadee Russet-backed Thrush Sept 6, 1946, Nehalem River at Hamlet, noon, Clatsop county. Cooper Hawk Kingfisher Flicker Gaircner Woodpecker Coast Jay Crow Winter Wren Willow Goldfinch Junco Sept 6, 1946. Wolf Creek Junction 3 p.m. Vaux's Swifts - many seen. Cedar Waxwings were common. Sept. 6, 1946, Seaside, Lewis & Clark Turn-around, Clatsop county. 7 p.m. Sooty Shearwaters - 1000's and 1000's of them were flying north, just beyond the breakers. They were going for at least 1 1/2 hours when I left. Huge "rafts" of them could be seen on the surface, too. Feeding, I suppose. Ruby-crowned Kinglets Red Crossbills - dozens and dozens of them, very tame and curious. They were mostly young birds, I believe.
