26 August 1946, Poison Oak Lake, 3 miles east of Corvallis, 8 a.m.
Anthony Green Heron - a young one perched for a long while on a small snag sticking
out of the water. I approached within 50 feet, and while I stood there it
became very nervous, shown by the flicking of the tail.
Robin - watched one catch and carry a small yellow-green Tree Frog to its young.
26 August 1946 Stewart Lake, 1 1/2 miles north of Corvallis, 9 a.m.
Mallards - quite a few on the lake this a.m. None in full male plumage.
Violet-green Swallows- 100's of these circling over the lake, and out on the
wire line by the railroad were perched another 2 or 300 of them. Adults
were not as plentiful as the immatures.

a pair of Lewis Woodpeckers on fence posts beside the hiway.
Many Mourning Doves, paired up on the wire lines.
Turkey Vultures
Violet-green Swallows seen. Quite a few of them. But no real large flocks.

A Lesser Loon seen on the man-made lake at the north end of town at 11 a.m.

Sept. 5, 1946, Corvallis, 0300 a.m. Russet-backed Thrush, Cackling Geese, and
some species of Swallows migrating southward over the town.
