Home to Boise, Idaho - 11-12 a.m. Scattered cumulus, slight breeze Desert Horned Larks (30) Flicker (2) Brewer Blkbds (75) Marsh Hawks (7) Mallard (23) Batchelder's Woodpkpr. (1) W. Meadowlarks (6) Baldpate (9) W. Crows (19) Wood Ducks 2M & 2F) W. Red-tailed Hawk (3) Lesser Canada Geese (2) C. House Finches (100's still singing and courting in the trees around town.) Black-billed Magpies (3) (one feeding on contontail (sp?) run over in the road.) Also observed a Golden Eagle flying slowly over a sage-covered hill and dropping suddenly to the ground. He flapped his wings after hitting the ground, but we didn't observe whether he got any prey, or not. May have been a jack rabbit, as there are plenty in this area.
