June 27, 1942 Woodburn - West Woodburn.
Watched Brewer Blackbird chase and dive at a Sharp-shinned hawk near
the highway.
June 28, 1942 Woodburn- Horseshoe Lake and return. Warm and clear.
Anthony Green Heron -- Watched one pair of adults a lot and located two young on
a log near the shore of the lake. We approached within 20 feet of them
when they flew awkwardly headlong into a willow. The limb wouldn't hold the
little fellow and he almost fell over backwards. They were a little better
than half grown I would say.
Also saw a Brewer Blackbird chasing a Crow, that looked like it was carrying an
egg in its bill. It outflew the blackbird.
