Lutescent Warbler Flicker Robin English Sparrow Violet-green Swallow Killdeer Brewer Blackbird Green-backed Goldfinch -- talked back and forth with this one for some time. Song Sparrow Long-tailed Chat -- Two of them kept chattering back and forth for at least a full half hour without a break. Rufous Hummingbird Valley Quail Seattle Wren -- scolded me as I went through the brush Russet-backed Thrush -- I stood quietly and had at least five of them working in towards me as I answered their calls. Pacific Yellowthroat -- Watched one brilliant male close by me and it acted as if there were a nest near so I searched and found one with 4 young. Mourning Dove Yellow Warbler Oregon Chickadee Crow McGillivray Warbler Coast Jay Bob White Harris Woodpecker Black-headed Grosbeak -- Several of them. Two I saw were males in very brilliant plummage. One perched in the top of a fir tree sang a long time. NW Red-breasted Sapsucker -- Saw two of them. One was working on a nearly horizontal limb of a vine maple (Acer circinatum) and had 5 longitudinal rows of 11 almost square holes drilled into the limb. California Creeper Little Flycatcher -- Slender-billed Nuthatch Cassin Vireo Western Meadowlark China Pheasant Audubon Warbler Western Tanager Great Horned Owl -- Came upon one perched on a dead limb of a fir about 30 feet up. It was very close to the trunk. Length sitting was about 18". Towhee Wood Luck -- Flushed female from brush along the river and there were 4 young following. Vaux Swift Western Bluebird Cedar Waxwing Hooded Merganser -- Female and male swimming upstream with 6 half-grown young. The female led the convoy and the male brought up the rear. Swam silently. Bank Swallow Willow Goldfinch Barn Swallow White-crowned Sparrow Western Wood Pewee -- Dark gray head and back. Light gray below. Phoe---bee. White throat and white wing bars (2 of them) 45 species.total.
