Purple Finch Western Meadowlark Robin Brewer Blackbird Willow Goldfinch Valley Quail - small flock Violet-green Swallow Pheasant Cassin Vireo Rough-winged Swallow Warbling Vireo Western Tanager Great Blue Heron Song Sparrow Mourning Dove 152 Spotted Sandpiper -- several small flocks of them on the gravel bars along the river. Wood Luck -- Flushed a female with 4 young in the slough. Killdeer -- On gravel bar, gave broken wing and tail fake, but we could find no eggs. Red-breasted Sapsucker -- Saw two of them, each working on a maple tree. Wood Pewee -- Lots of them in the area. Yellow Warbler -- Saw female carrying insect, but couldn't follow her to nest. (?) Olive-sided Flycatcher -- Gairaner Woodpecker Oregon Junco Cedar Waxwing -- Small flock of 7 or 8 of them flew overhead and lit in Ash tree. Chipping Sparrow Russet-backed Thrush -- Saw several and found one dead floating in the water. Oregon Towhee Black-headed Grosbeak-- call like early-morning warble of the Robin. Saw several and one pair evidently mating. Male was in very bright plumage. Vesper Sparrow ? -> Ashy-throated Flycatcher ? Flicker Coast Jay Crow Coot Horned Owl -- Flushed at almost identical spot that it was a year before. Pacific Yellowthroat Northwestern Redwing Sora Rail American Bittern Mallard Cliff Swallow Northern Phalarope Barn Swallow Seattle Wren Rufous Hummingbird Iridescent Warbler Long-tailed Chat Sparrow Hawk Bank Swallow Baldpate *Cinnamon Teal -- Single in bright plumage flushed several times along the edge of the swamp. Wilson Snipe Turkey Vulture. Red-tailed Hawk Hooded Merganser -- Female acting as if she had young or a nest, but we didn't locate. The Salmon and Thimble berries were in full fruit.
