Sparrow Hawk Horned Lark Western Red-tail Hawk Flicker Wilson Snipe White-breast Nuthatch Robin Crow Oregon Chickadee Pheasant Killdeer swarm of Pipits Meadowlark Mallard Bush Tit Long-tail Jay Varied Thrush Ruffed Grouse Ruby-crown Kinglet White-crown Sparrow Oregon Towhee Seattle Wren Pine Siskin Oregon Junco Rusty Song Sparrow Harris Woodpecker Western Bluebird Golden-crown Kinglet Northern Red-breasted Sapsucker Green-back Goldfinch. Brewer Blackbird English Sparrow Vesper Sparrow Violet-green Swallow Trilliums were coming up nicely-- Wood Violets (yellow) were in full bloom We treed a gray-digger and Eldon took a picture about 4 feet away from it. March 9, 1941 Along Brook Lane at 7:30 to 8:30 A. M. Weather clear and bright. Junco Flicker Oregon Chickadee Long-tail Jay Robin Audubon Warbler Hummingbird (2) Rusty Song Sparrow China Pheasant (16) Towhee Western Bluebird Blackbird English Sparrow Seattle Wren Vesper Sparrow Red-breast Sapsucker Violet-green Swallow (As I was typing out this report I looked out the window and there was one flying around the house.) Right by the barn I saw my first Hummingbird of the year. It hovered over a bush for a few seconds. About 30 minutes later at a different place I saw another fly right over my head. March 11, 1941 Saw the first buzzards of the season. There were lots of them between Jefferson, Oregon and Corvallis. I lost count after [illegible] I had seen twenty six of them. Some were along, several in small groups, and they were all flying very low as they went north. I didn't see any more than 30 or 40 feet above the ground. They were flying in small circles.
