Catch 3 Ceromyza cremice near base of mountains; soil coarse gravel with some fines parts to dig in. rather hard; softer sand in run off gullies. Heard Thorned Owl hooting around 9:30 last evening, answered? by wind scream. Have not heard liquid trill song since last mentioned; was this a migrating individual that stopped over? Inatecatchers have been heard nearly everyday, hummingbirds (all of same species as specimen as far as observed, no males seen) and Verdins commonly; Say Phoebe commonly and Myiarchus teneraeiens once or twice beside this specimen taken. Unidentified woodpecker glimpsed twice. No quail seen or heard, although they were said by people in Kelton to be common at the Tank.
