Enclason 1934. Buteo borealis calurus 3 mi. west of Fort Yuma, Imperial Co., Calif. Jan. 4, 1934 A single individual seen perched in top of catalaw tree; at one side 2 ft below actual top; immature individual, remained quietly watching car for 5 min. as I moved it took off; flew towards river. 12 mi. west of Melton, Ariz. Jan. 14, 1934 A single individual seen on telephone post between Dane and Melton; flew off as car stopped. Tinajas Altas, Yuma Co., Ariz. Jan. 13, 1934 A single individual seen soaring over top of range, disappeared to east; reflected end of tail conspicuous as it wheeled. A raven flew fast at same time as this one noted.
