K. Averman 1964 Erikub Atoll, Marshall Islands In all cases the story was much the same again - Noddies, primarily Hawaiian, Fairy Terns and Shorebirds. Spent the night aboard. Oct 27. Ship moved early to Erikub. Roger, Bill & I went in to Bozengoa while the others visited Erikub. A good wind roughed up the lagoon quite a bit, giving us a bouncy ride. Bozengoa is about 1/4 of a mile long and quite narrow. It is mostly coconut and associated plants on the western half. The eastern portion is mixed forest, very open beneath, on large brown boulders. The dominant species here differs from those of the other islets with mixed forest, which are generally smaller. I do not know the trees, but the two main ones were one with light green leaves of the shape D and orange blossoms, and one with long green leaves of a distinct Ochusia → type — . A few Pisonia, Marsdenia, Morinda- Guettarda and one or two Alas were mixed in. The entire sea beach is fringed almost exclusively with large Seaweed, extending 5-10 yards in most of the way except near the mouth, where it becomes very sparse
