Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands
After the rain stopped we poisoned
the coral heads in front of camp and
collected the fish. Many I have seen at
Sand Johnston, but some were new. conspicuously
absent were the huna, huna and black
triggerfish. A few new butterfly species
appeared in the pile. About 45 species
in all; grandly, beautiful beyond belief.
After supper we went after blood
gariples. Only 3 Brown Boobies were present,
in contrast to the dozen or so the night
before. Perhaps they have moved to one
of the other islands or to the rocks along
the reef. Only 5 samples obtained.
Oct 16. Another shower during the day.
light rain in the morning
1000. We broke camp
To Jaboeruhy Island
at Jaboces on it. The island
has only Betel nut vine on it. There is
corals on the shore, and a sand flat where the
Terns. We wandered
the few palms on the island to shoot it.
Arrived at 9 a.m. and
all in camp on the
the two adjacent islands.
