Wedge-tailed Shearwater - Notes
March 11 - First birds noted on island (3). Single birds, sitting quietly
on the ground. Two in Lepturus below Sooties, one on pond by bunker
with Sooties.
March 12 - Three again present, two different.
March 14 - Birds arrive after dark, between 8 and 11.
March 15 - Eight returns; thirteen banded so far - total 21. The
same birds are not present each night howeaver. In most cases we have
found them once.
March 16 - About 20 on the island 2300-2400. Banded nine, three
returns. Two were heard calling for the first time.
