Engler 1936 Sulphur, 4042 ft., Humboldt Co., Nev. July 26 (cont.) The country throughout the trip was barren except for the usual low bushes. No trees were seen & very few rock ledges could be seen along the way. Both Juno & Venado are situated on the Dry flat labeled. Owner of hotel in which we are staying came in this morning & among other things told us that the Kit Fox was quite common around Sulphur & would often be caught in traps set for Coyotes, thus being a nuisance. July 27. 6:00 P.M. July 26, E. R. Hall & I drove to within a mile of Black Rock Point. The exact locality being 10 ½ mi. W & 6 mi. N Sulphur, Humboldt Co., Nev. at which place we each set a line of traps. 62 mouse traps were set on a lava rock slope on which a few low scattered Sacobate washes could be found. A few of these traps ranged across the line into Pershing Co., Nev. 24 mouse traps were placed along a dry wash that ran out onto the alkaline flat. From those traps set among the rocks 1 Perognathus fammosus, 1 P. longus membris, 2 Dipodops merriami, 3 Peromyscus erinitus & 3 Peromyscus maniculatus.
