Engler 5 mi. N Summit L., 5700 ft, Humboldt Co., Nev. July 23eml Scarp could be seen about 7 mi. NE of Alder Cr., 4600 ft, Humboldt Co., Nev. an Ammospermophilus was seen beside the road on loose gravelly soil covered with Sarcobatus. We drove SE from Denio thru flat country, the first part of which was covered with Sarcobatus & Artemisia then a stretch of ground was reached which had nothing but a low dry grass covering it, eventh. hills seemed barren of any brush. We arrived at Quinn R. Crossing about 1:30 P.M. July 24. Yesterday afternoon E. R. Hall & I drove S from Quinn R. Crossing to DeLone's Ranch about 14 mi. S of the crossing. The country along the way was comparatively flat. The first part of the trip was thru Atriplex growing on a hard alkali soil. Farther S sandy soil was reached on which Sarcobatus & Artemisia were growing. East of the road about 4 1/2 mi. from S of the crossing low rocky hills were found on which were many rock slides.
