1/2 mi. N Vya, 6000 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. Engler 1936 July 21 (Candy) Nev: 10 mouse traps were set in much the same habitat as the last group. From these traps was taken 1 Dipodomys ordii + 2 Peromyscus maniculatus Many of the specimens taken were had the nose + toes covered with large red ants which fed on these parts. This morning on our way to the trap lines a large Antelope was seen alongside the road. As we approached it started off across the flat bushy land & then paused on a low hill about 200 yds distant to look at us & then continued on over the hill. about 10 mi. S Vya a large flock of Magpies were flushed from among the Artemesia bushes along the road. On our return trip they were again in this place. 10 1/2 mi. S Vya a Red tailed hawk was seen carrying something in its claws. A shot caused it to drop -- the remain df a young jack rabbit. July 22. Morning of July, 21 spent in camp.
