Engler 1936 ½ mi. N Vya, 6000 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. (July 2 cont.) Last night at our new camp I set out a line of 60 traps, 10 rat traps & 50 mouse traps 50 of the traps were set on the steep rocky slope just west of camp. They were set about 30 feet apart. The rat traps were set along the base red of a rocky ledge at the top of the hill. The other ten traps were set near camp on damp ground around a spring. One rat trap was set under the cabin in which camp was made. This morning, July 20th, Neotoma cinerea was taken from a rat trap at base of ledge near top of hill, also 1 Callospermophilus was taken from rat trap at same place. 1 Neotoma lipida was taken from trap under cabin. Taken from traps around camp were, 1 Microtus mordax, 1 Eutamius minimus + 3 Peromyscus maniculatus. Taken from mouse traps on hill were, 1 Microtus mordax (young), 1 Thomys quadratus (young) + 24 Peromyscus maniculatus July 21. Yesterday afternoon, July 20, W.C. Russell & I drove 17.3 mi. by speedometer, S of Vya to a place where there was a small lake surrounded by Artemisia bushes. On the way, 10½ mi. S Vya a Callospermophilus was sho[red].
