Engler 1936 12 mi. Cr., 67 mi. Ecalifline, 5300 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. July 20 (cont) to be feeding on the currant berries which were ripe & quite abundant. "Cabo's" were also seen feeding on these berries 1/2 mi. E of Camp was a large meadow covered with green grass. Mallard ducks were seen along the camp Cr. at this place & Sage hens were found among the Artemesia bushes on the south hill. Horned Owls were heard in the evenings & on at least 4 occasions Great Blue Herons were seen. Every evening at 8:03 P.M. bats began to come out. The evenings were warm but it turned cool cold in the morning just before dawn. The stream likewise was "warm" during the day but was cold in the morning. Trout could be seen in the deeper parts of the Cr. but kept to the shady parts. It seems the wind, when blowing, was from the W but because the canyon was so well protected by the steep walls little wind was felt. List of Birds seen 1 Sage Hen 2 Mourning Dove 3 Mallard Duck
