Engler 1936 Rock Cr., 5000 ft., Granite Mt., Washoe Co., Nev. July 14. We left camp for Gerlach in the middle of the afternoon where we purchased supplies. From this we drove W to Deephole flat flat open sandy country. From drove Deephole we swung northward through surrounding rocky hills to the Silver Bell mines where we looked for bats Corynorhinus rafinesquii only one small Mystes was found. Returning about 1/2 mi. to the main road we drove farther North up a rocky bad road through th. hills, to a point 15 mi. NW of Deephole, Washoe Co., Nev. where an overnight camp was made. Artemisia surrounded th. immediate camp with a few scattered trees farther up the hill as which we were camped. 20 traps were set around camp on loose gravelly soil. 11 Peromyscus maniculatus were taken. Left this camp for Hauser, Nev. early in the morning. Along the way saw golden Eagle & Red tailed hawks. One hawk was shot by E.T. Hooper 20 mi. NW Deephole, Nev. Marmots & cottontails were seen on two different occasions along this road thru the hills. We dropped into the Valley & made camp 1 mi. W Hauser, 4650 ft., Washoe Co., Nev.
