Engler 1936 \n1/2 mi. NW Flanigan, 4200 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. July 6. about 7:30 P.M. last evening E.R. Hall, D.C. Smiley, W.C. Russell + drove to a water hole 4 mi. S. Flanigan to shoot bats. a strong steady wind was blowing & none were seen. Five Myla were taken at this place (4 mi. S. Flanigan, 4100 ft., Washoe Co., Nev) This morning 1 Peognathus longemem- bris, 1 Microdepodops + 1 Dipodomys meriamii were taken on the sandy brush covered hill in front of camp. 1 Neotoma lepida was taken at the base of a rocky ledge about 400 yds E. & Camp. When the mornings catch had been prepared we broke camp + moved north about 30 mi. to Smoke Ck., 3900 ft., 9 mi. E Calif. line, Washoe Co., Nev. The camp at Flanigan was on a slope 1/2 mi NW of town. The general surround- ings were sandy brush covered slopes to the south & west the country was comparatively flat. The Virginia mts. could be seen in the distance. North of camp about 3 mi was a range of hills on which were many rocky ledges. Here the Neotoma were found. The greater part of the rocky strata had been laid down by old Lake Lahonton & the -
