Eptesicus fuscus Engler 1936 July 1. W side Truckee R., 4900 ft., 2 mi. W Verdi, Washoe Co., Nev. Two bats were shot a little after dusk along the W side of the Truckee R. They were flying in irregular flight along an open lane bounded on one side by aspens on the other by a low hill with scattered pines. When shot they were flying about 50 ft above the ground. Their flight did not seem as erratic as the smaller Myotis sp. which were seen. July 2 One large bat, believed to be of the same species as above, was seen this evening. It was flying much lower than evening then on the previous evening. As a breeze was blowing from the south the insects apparently were not flying as high as previous night. // July 6 Smoke Cr., 3900 ft., 2 mi. Calif. line, Washoe Co., Nev Two specimens taken in open Cottonwood lined lane. Fairly strong wind blowing. Flying from 4 to 25 feet above ground but stayed mostly near the ground.
