Engler 1936 2. \frac{1}{2} mi. W Verdi, 4400 ft., W side Truckee R., Washoe Co., Nev. July 3 chipmunk. The rest of the afternoon was spent around camp. Occasionally one or another of the party would go out with shot gun to see what they could bring in. About 5: P.M. trap lines were again set out. E. R. Hall + I took the road going E out of Verdi. 1 \frac{1}{4} mi out of town two marmots were seen by the side of the road. E.R. Hall went back to camp after steel traps while I set out 43 traps \frac{1}{4} of a mile farther up the road on a hill that was quite barren except for a scattering of small Artemesia bushes. Small rocks were in great profusion. Some of the traps were set on + around a rock slide on this same hill, others were set in a dry wash at the bottom of the hill. As on the previous night nothing was taken. After dinner + as it began to grow dark we tried to shoot some more bats. There was a good breeze coming from the south + very few bats were seen. These were all flying much lower then on the previous evening. Only one (a Myotis was taken by D & Smiley.
