Left MVZ, Berkeley 8:50 A.M. yesterday.
The party consisted of E.R. Hall, Dwight C. Smiley,
Emmett J. Hooper, Ward C. Russell, &
Carl H. Engler. The MVZ Rio truck &
E.R. Hall's Ford were the two cars taken on
the trip. The route followed took us
through Vallejo, Sacramento, Auburn,
& Truckee. We arrived at Verdi about 4:45 P.M. & made camp about 5:00 P.M. The
campsite was about 100 yds S of
Nev. State Fish Hatcheries, which is
located about 1/2 mi W of Verdi, Washoe
Co., Nev. 4900 ft. W bank of Truckee R., 4900 ft.
about 5:45 P.M. set out 20 mouse
traps in a locality of Artemisia, scatt-
ered rocks, & pines. Only one trap was
sprung but caught nothing.
about 8:00 P.M. shot at bats & succeeded
in getting two. Eptesicus fuscus.
July 3
The early part of the morning was
spent in preparing the specimens taken
the night before. Completing this work
about 10: A.M. I started out hunting &
succeeded in taking a chipmunk

Colaptes cafer. After lunch W.C. Russell
