Engler 1936 El Dorado Can., 6000 ft., Humboldt Range, Pershing Co. Neu. Aug. 1 On the eve of the 29th a line of 40 traps was set along the stream near the water. From this line of mouse traps was taken 14 Peromyscus maniculatus & 1 Onychomys leucogaster. The P. mani culatus seemed larger than those taken before this summer. The trap line was left out during the day but nothing was caught. The next morning 12 P. maniculatus & 2 Perognathus parvus were taken. about 9:00 A.M. E.T. Hooper & I hiked up the canyon to an old gold mine mill. a prospector thus told us of catching a bushy tailed woodrat & of seeing "ballos" chipmunks & also about a mountain lion was seen in the vicinity. Wild horses were seen on top of the mt. We hiked on up the canyon to the 8000 ft on base of a steep hill. E.T.H. killed 1 Microtus morelax & 2 "ballos". I shot a M. morelax & a Eutamius minimurus. The altitude at this point was 8000 ft. At 7700 ft. we each took a Cooper hawk. In the evening of the 30th, 29 browse traps were set at the 8000 ft., level on a flat meadow in hopes of taking more of
