Edge 1934 Itinerary July 6th The river - now taken. July 7th Took up the Bsteel traps - no results. Broke Camp after Breakfast and proceed via Alington to Shurz. The road was thru the valley - many Alfalfa fields with occasional waste lots until we started over a low range of hills about 12 miles NW of Shurz - this type of country lasted until almost into Shurz - The vegetation was dominantly Atriplex of dwarf growth on the slopes and hill sides. Camp was established 3 mi S of Shurz 4100ft., Mineral Co., Nev. 45 traps (govt) were set out 7 mi NW of Shurz, 4500ft., Mineral Co., on sandy slope mixed with a small fragmented black rock - the vegetation was low- Atriplex. 9 traps govt were put out N of Camp in Sandy soil good growth of Atriplex Received first mail of the trip this afternoon. July 8th 45 traps, 7 mi. NW Shurz, 4500ft., yielded 9 mammals as follows: 6 Perog. longimembrio 2 Dip. Microps levipes, 1 O. l. brevicandus. No black microdipods as predicted by Russell.
