Soil; Sandy loam. June29 Took up traps put out with Hall Total 21 Mammals - 19 P. maniculatus 2 P. truei. With respect to Pine Grove this location was about 3 1/2 miles 5 W of Pine Grove and Specimens are so labeled. Those from the last station, i.e. Nearer Camp 2 3/4 miles 5 W Pine Grove and elev. 7600 ft. Took up traps that had been out all day yesterday about 8 am - 15 traps in Artemesia yielded 5 P. maniculatus, 9 traps in rock outcrop top of ridge yielded nothing. Put out 44 traps - 41 got mouse - 3 rat N of Camp in Sage brush and open hillsides among Pinons - soil sandy loam in former, and sand, broken rock and rock outcrop in latter. Spaced about 7 paces. June30 Took up traps south of Camp- total 15 mammals and 1 junco, Mammals as follows - 2 Perog. parvus and 13 P. maniculatus The tall fairly dense Artemesia appeared to afford best trapping.
