Edge 1934 Thomomys bottae July 10 - 3 mi. S Shung 4100 ft Nueces Co. Tex. Took three adults and one immature along river bank about 200 yds west of camp. Soil quite sandy supporting a straggling growth of young cotton-woods - burrows are in damp sand about a foot and a half above the river water level. Took one more immature at six p.m. from one of the traps moved at 1pm. It appears seems that breaking open the burrow disturbs the animal if he is resting near - if he's too far away to be disturbed he probably isn't using that section of the burrow - as a result any long set in one burrow is not likely to be profitable?
