U.M. Diazioz 1978 Turdus spp. El Juiol, 230 m., 19.5 km. NNE Encarnacion by road, Dpto. Itapua, Paraguay. 2 September At 07:50 I saw a flock of Turdus individuals in the trees on the NW side of the airstrip where they are hauling gravel. There were at least one each of Turdus rufiventris, leucomelas and amaurochalinus. The birds were darting in and out of the vegetation so it was impossible to accurately determine how many birds of each species there were, but I would say estimate that there were at least 20 birds, mostly leucomelas and amaurochalinus. There was no singing and only occasional calls being given. At about 12:00 I saw some Turdus individuals feeding in the recently plowed field across from the airstrip. I was busy recording at the time, and did not identify the thrushes or count them before they left the field. So far I have seen Turdus rufiventris and leucomelas most frequently. They both can be found around the Hotel El Juiol buildings, and sometimes are found alongside the swimming
