O.M Diago 1978 Hotel El Trul, 230 m., 19.5 km. NNE Encarnacion by road Dpto. Itapúa, Paraguay. 7 September: golf course to the airstrip trail, and followed the airstrip trail to manakin lek #IV. I stayed in the general area of the manakin lek until 12:00, when I started back to the hotel. The area around manakin lek #IV had more singing and a larger variety of birds than probably any other area I've relatively visited here so far. (This large amounts of singing and variety may be due to the facts that the weather is getting warmer, it's getting to be later in the spring, and I haven't spent that much time inside the forested areas). I took the same route back to the hotel. When I reached building #1 I noticed White Woodpeckers (Melanerpes candidus) calling from behind the building.
