Itapúa, Paraguay. 2 September bird species vocalizing, and most of the vocalizations were calls, not songs. 3 September I had planned to start recording early this morning, but decided not to when I noticed soldiers with rifles posted around the hotel. A party was held last night for the wife of the president of Paraguay, and the soldiers were "protecting" her. At 12:55 I started on the path which leads from the miniature golf course to the dining room area. I then cut across to the gravel pit, and then took Middle Trail and Bamboo Trail back to the hotel area. I then walked around the hotel area until 17:00. The weather was cool, with heavily overcast skies and no wind. There was very little bird vocalizing going on. On Middle Trail I walked by at least three (seemingly) separate Stephanoxis lalandi Leks which were very noisy. Other than that, the only species which were singing consistently were Basileuterus culicivorus and Basileuterus leucoblepharus. 4 September The weather conditions today were
