V.M. D'gradon 1978 Basileuterus culicivorus El Juil, 230 m., 19.5 km. NNE Encarnacion by road Dpto. Itapua, Paraguay. 20 September. The junction of Super Jen Trail and Cross Creek Trail and sw up the creek. This is probably the bird I heard at the same location on 18 September. I recorded "two" birds (B17 and B18) near the beginning of the lower road. I am not certain that there are not the same bird because they were within 200' of each other, and I could not be certain that I heard them singing at the same time. (While I recorded these birds there was a mist- like rain.) (fewer than four) On the way back, I heard a number of B.c. along the cornfield and Cross Creek Trail. It was very difficult to judge how many separate birds there were because most of them were singing only a few songs. I also heard the bird I heard earlier in the morning at Super Jen Trail and Cross Creek Trail, but it was far off and not singing consistently. Walking back to the hotel I heard B16 and B2, but not B1. 21 September With some windy but clear weather
