Itapua, Paraguay. 9 September Once again it was very windy today, but instead of putting off censusing B.C. for yet another day I decided to try doing the gravel and possibly Becker's forest. pit and airstrip. On the way to the gravel pit (via the miniature golf course path and Middle Trail), I checked on birds B12, B13, and the one near the junction of the path to the airstrip. I heard B12. I recorded one bird (B15) on one of the temporary roads on the NW side of the airstrip. At about this time I started having problems (I misthread the tape!) and had to re-record the bird, but I was only able to get 15 secs in my first attempt. The wind began to pick up about this time, so I decided to give up the formal census and walk to Becker's forest. I did hear two B.C. in the "cut over gravel area", both off the path from the SE side of pasture #2. I had recorded one of them, but the microphone batteries weren't functioning. I will try to record them soon. 20 September I left the hotel today hoping that the weather (cool, overcast) and the wet forest wouldn't disastrously affect my censusing.
