1954 May 18 Baram River Valley, 3 mi SE of Walabun, elev. 10,500 ft. Nepal. From the talus slope just above loose camp (see dis- craption earlier), a Pika is shot as it scampers out from under a boulder, 8:30AM. (W.W.D. 102). A single bird is seen ground feeding among the grass & low (turning green) firs near the talus slope. The bird is shot. This would appear to be the same black- tail bird which has been observed in flocks of 40 or more; however, these birds have occasionally been seen alone. Time 9:00 AM. (W.W.D. 103). During mid-morning Sherpa-sider Angtham boy shoots a Ram Chukor across the Baram Valley from here (see species account). (W.W.D. 104). Late morning & early afternoon spent putting up the specimens. Skies overcast by noon and a light snow this afternoon.
