Summary of Observations April 21 - 27 1954 Borun Buria Valley, elev. 12,600 ft., Nepal. Birds Nine species of birds were taken in this area. The only other small bird seen here was a small wren observed near camps & elsewhere always by steep brushy rock with chopped newly. Large birds seen in the vicinity include Choughs, soaring high above by the granite cliffs never descending into the valley; a Raven, a Krimmergeil, a Falcon, & a Ram Chukkar partridge, reported to me by another member. All these species would seem to be Palearctic rather than Oriental forms. Mammals The two lines of over 50 traps were set in a variety of habitats including: meadow, streamside, forest, choppral, & rock slope; but the Vole was the only species taken except for the single coy trapped in the cave. There was no small mammal evidence except for these two species (although a Martin was seen by another member of the party in the fir forest). This entire region is almost heavily grazed by domestic sheep a goats later in the season. A total of 7 mammals were caught out of 217 trap-nights; average 1/31 T-N.
