April 22 Brown Valley elev 12,600 ft, Medal. 6:00 A.M., the yesterday ground is foot covered & skies are clear. Trap line is inspected; 2 voles (Microstus?) are cought one in a meadow trap placed along at a trail 9" from a burrow (W.W.D. 75), the other from the forested mossy banks of the larger stream (Luse #3) - W.W.D. 74, where two traps were place 3" from a runway in the green moss. 7:08 A.M. From the banks of a stream a bird (Titmouse?) is shot in a Rhodod- dendron thicket. There are several of these titmice constantly flitting about amongst the Rhododendrons and at least on Linobola is calling from a fir overhead (W.W.D. 78). A [illegible] light full song is heard from several sources; one of these is traced to the upper limbular of a tree where a tiny bird hops from limb to limb during the single pitched trill, whenever he is stationary. This specimen (W.W.D. 76) is taken. Another kind some species is later seen in a fir top, giving the same song.
