Mar. 22 1954 AM. Ridge 6 mi S. of Num, elev >700ft. Near E side of Arun River drainage. This high ridge is densely forested w. broadleaf trees including occasional Rhododendrons. Underbrush is rather thick & lush with ferns & other low shrubs. No visible sign of flowering under, but ground is moist. Many birds calling here. One out of a flock of [WW.D 49] -> 2-3 is shot from a 30ft tree, 8:30 A.M., another is taken from the top of ~ 35 ft. tree. This lone bird, presumably a flycatcher, is continuously calling a several noted song from the tree top - flies from one to p to another before being shot (WW.D 50). Time 9:00 A.M. P.M., 2 mi S. of Num, elev ~ 6000ft. Nepa], E side of Arun River drainage. Extremely dense jungle-like habitat, Trees up to 60 ft. high (broadleaf.), secondary 6-10 ft. shrubs & ferns, moss on ground. An intermittent stream bottom. Following up the stream bottom, 4:30 P.M. a wren-like bird is heard & then seen scratching about in the underbrush. There are several other ground birds about, but this one seems to be calling with a banish Wren-like ("typewriter") note. The bird is shot (WW.D 51). Further up the dry stream
