W[illegible] 1954 May 12 Camp II (cont.) of Wolabu. All is ice or snow in this area, and slope 25° due A pair of choughs alight on the snow 200 ft from camp. The choughs have bombed where this camp had previously been pitched [but changed due to avalonbe danger] and they are apparently scavenging for garbage dropped about the area. The bird remain in the vicinity most of the day. May 21 Camp I. No sign of bird or mam- mal life as we pass the lobe May 22 Camp II . Two choughs are feeding from the garbage remains of our old abandoned camp near here - as usual. This morning a set of small mammal tracks are noticed running on the snow across camp! Probably M[illegible]. These are followed 200 ft on either side of camp, so the mammal could not have poss been brought up in our packs. The tracks seem to be coming from a talus slope about 1/2 mile away; there may be some small vegetation there. However there is certainly no food source out here on the snow-covered glacier, and the
