McKinnis Notes Snow Pigeon (W.W.D. 100) 1959 April 3 Brown Bird Valley, elev 15,000 ft., 4 mi S.W. of Moholm, Nepal. A flock of about 20 pigeons [illegible] (grey & white) are seen flying in very close formation from time to time. They fly out for off the ground for the most part in x and these dry gullies (see Journal for description). April 4 Four pigeons all flying less than 1 ft apart pass [illegible] 15 ft overhead as I am hunting for Rose Chasers. April 20 A flock of about 12 birds are seen feeding at the bottom of a dry gully. As I approach they fly & run up the hillside becoming spread out somewhat but still pecking at the ground, feeling apparently. Finally they take off in flight as a flock flying with strong & quiet wingbeats, and are not seen again, going a considerable distance. May 5 Brown Riv. Valley, elev 15,500 ft., Nepal. Sherpa Angthanbay has shot a Snow Pigeon (W.W.D. 100), & I put up a skin of the bird. The crop & throat of this bird are loaded with a 3/4" grain; the contents are preserved by L. Saxon.
