Homedale, Owyhee Co., Idaho. May 29. Last night I set out 20 mouse traps in a sandy area just south of the bridge, and 30 more in a sandy area on the brow of the first hill west of town to the south of the highway. The traps were placed in Atriplex chiefly, and some Sarcobatus. Very little Artemisia in the areas trapped. I caught nothing in the area just south of the bridge, but in the other area west of town I took 4 Dipolomys ordius (28, 29 mus. musculue), and 1 young & Reithrodontomy which was discarded. I also set out three steel sets at the mouth of Citellus mollis burrows. Took two adults today in these traps. Both of them were molting all over as indicated by the skins when they were removed from the animals. One Citellus Oreganus was taken along a ditch. This species is not at all common here; this was the only one I saw. The apparent absence of Peromyscus puzzles me. We were unable to take them at Ontario on either side of the river and here again neither Siguist nor I took any in our traps. They must be in this area but farther
