WB Davis 1936. Homedale, Owyhee Co., Idaho, May 28, 540 Arrived here yesterday afternoon. Drove via Nyssa, Oregon, Parma, and Wilder, Idaho. We are camped on the W.W. Aldrich ranch on the N side of the Snake River in Canyon Co. I worked the south side of the river and Pequegnat worked the north side. I drove across the river and made four sets for Thomomys in the field of Earl Vail about 1/2 mi. W of the town limits. The gophers were in his alfalfa and also along the edge of his corn field and along the irrigation ditches. Gophers are scarce in this area because the irrigation company has been com- bating them in conjunction with the B. S. I saw several Citellus mollis in Mr. Vail's field and also in a field just to the east of the bridge crossing the river. This morning I found three gophers in my four sets. They are the large townsendii type. Hunted for more burrows but was unable to locate any. The south side of the river in the area of Homedale is about 50 ft.
