W.B. Davis 1936 522 2 mis. E Lakeview, 5200 ft., Lake Co., Oregon. May 20. visited it today with him and was able to get up within 2 ft of the brooding bird before she flushed. Tequegnat had been able to catch her with his hands yesterday. Today five eggs were in the nest. The nest is on the ground at the base of a Prunus, & about 30 ft from the creek. It is partially set back under a bank formed by the exposed root of the tree. When the ♀ flushed she kept near the nest as long as we remained there - 5 minutes,- and kept uttering her "chip, chip" notes. The ♂ did not appear on the scene. She kept foraging all the while, eating terminal buds from the small branches of the Prunus. A Solnie (Warbler) was attracted by the Junco's calls and came over to investigate. Collected a Robin, Aphelacoma sp?, and Mountain Chickada today. Both the Aphelacoma and Cyanocitta are here, the latter confined largely to the north-facing wooded side of the canyon. May 21. Visited the trap this A.M. at 6:30 and found 2 japus, 2 Microtus mordax, 199 & discarded,
