W.R. Davis 1936 514 N slope Strawberry Canyon, 1/4 mi. NE Botanical Garden. Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. April 29, 1936 Set out 30 mouse traps in mixed Artemisia, Baccharis, Poison Oak and Blue Lupine. Took 22 rodents as follows: Perognathus c. californicus 2♂, 3♀ Thomomys t. bottae 1♀ y9 Microtus c. californicus 1♀ Broken skull Reithrodonomys m. longicaudus 2♂, 1♀ Peromyscus m. gambelii 8♂, 4♀. Ants were busy on the captured animals when I visited the traps at 4:30 P.M., One ♀ Perognathus was utterly ruined (maybe by them). Perognathus were taken near Artemisia, especially in places where there were steep banks. The Reithrodonomys were trapped in matted grassy areas as was the Microtus. There was much evidence of Brush Rabbits and I found they had been feeding on the blue, brush-like lupine.
