Saw the following birds today,
1. Western Meadowlark. Several on
fence posts between Rupert & Keyburn.
2. English Sparrow. Common around
towns or farm yards;
3. Golden Eagle - 1 saw mi.s. Dec.
4. Goshawk - 3 males + 1 female
in Howells Canyon.
5. Lead-colored Bushtit - flock of these
mixed with next,
6. Mountain Chickadee -
7. Longtailed Chickadee - Saw several
in the few groves in Howells
Canyon,
8. Black-billed Magpie - Several along
Snake River between Burley and
Selo.
I visited Walter Nelson this
evening at his home here at Rupert;
He is trapping & poisoning in Big
Lost River, Little Lost River, Pahsimeroi;
and Birch Creek valleys. He has
taken 113 coyotes in that region
since Oct. 15. I got one skull of
a Coyote from him that was
taken near the head of Little Lost
River Valley. He took two Striped Skunk
but did not save them. Will get skulls.
