W.B. Davis 1935, American Falls, Power Co., Idaho, June 27. Dear Shelley I saw several Citellus arctatus crossing the highway. Did not stop. Encountered a rain storm near here and was in it until I was about half way between Pacatillo and here. June 30. Made up the skins I took yesterday and broke camp about 1:30 and drove to Rupert, Minidoka Co. June 30 to July 9. No collecting done. Visited with friends and celebrated the 4th in style. First 4th I have celebrated in 3 years. Wickel Ranch, Elba, Cassia Co., Idaho, July 9. Today I was pitching hay in the field and as I lifted a shock a single male Citellus oregonus dashed madly across the field. I dropped the load of hay and gave chase, pitchfork in hand. After about a two minute's chase I succeeded in catching it. The agility and speed these squirrels have is amazing. I left Elba about 8:30 p.m., and drove to the desert about 6 miles W of Burley where I pulled off the road and slept for the night.
