W.B.Davis 1935 Kaufman, Clark Co., Idaho, June 27. June 26 - at Berenice, Butte Co., Idaho. I spent most of the forenoon in making up the Citellus skine I got on the 25th near Arco. In the afternoon - about 3:00 P. M. I hunted for C. mollis. They were very abundant along the right of way between Peterson's ranch and the Lesmhi mountains. Mr. Peterson had wheat and alfalfa growing on his ranch and where these fields bordered the road the destruction wrought by these squirrels was quite evident. A strip about 75 ft. wide was heavily grazed. Mr. Petersen said the wheat suffered most for the squirrel had a mania for pulling down the stalks and nipping off the heads of the plants. The squirrels were living in burrows excavated for the most part in a deserted tract of land across the road from the Peterson ranch. This place was overgrown by "Russian Thistle", which, during previous years, had matured, dried, and been blown by the wind until they were caught by some
