W.B. Davis 1935. Hills 6 mi., W of Murphy, Owyhee Co, Idaho, May 23, This morning I looked at my traps and found nothing. I cannot account for this lack of a catch. Aldrich caught only 6 out of 30 traps set; and Twining 1 out of 30 trap nights. The territory appeared to be occupied but perhaps by some diurnal mammal. One of the boys brought in a muskrat that he had caught and the gopher traps yielded three, two of which were young and were discarded. We left this camp - at Castle Creek - about 4:00 P.M. and drove to this locality by way of Oreana, Linkers Creek, and Murphy. This territory here is in the foothills west of Murphy. The whole area is covered with Artemisia tridentata and trriples. There are a few Cercocarpus and quite a few Grayia. In the gulley through which a small creek is now flowing, but which dries up during the summer, are willows and wild roses.
