I believe these will prove to be affiliated with J. nevadensis. I offered another chap 25 cts each for 4 Ondatra; I furnished the traps. He set them in likely looking burrows along the creek. This stream is very fluctuating in habit; last year there was barely any water, this year the water was so high that it probably did some damage to the young. This evening he looked at the traps and found nothing. There is a high range of rugged, now snow-capped mountains to the west and southwest of this locality. They are not named on our maps, but are locally known as the Owyhee Mountains. They appear to be quite rugged and about 8,000 or 9,000 ft. high. Silver City is in the heart of this range. The reported dominant trees are Pseudotsuga, Juniperus, and Mountain Mahogany (Cercocarpus).
