W.B. Davis 1935, Castle Creek 8 mi. S Oreana, Owyhee Co., Idaho. May 22. Time today in making up the specimens taken yesterday, including 5 Sage Thrashers taken 4 miles S of Mountain Home. The female had a nest in a tall sage (Artemisia tridentata) about 2'½ from the ground and it contained a single egg. In the afternoon I took a walk up the creek as far as the canyon, collecting an Eastern Kingbird and a Western Warbling Vireo. On the way back to camp I set 5 mouse traps in the Atriplex near apparently occupied burrows. These were placed about 25 to 40 ft. apart. I offered a boy five cents each for every large Thomomys he could catch; I supplied the traps and showed him how to set them. In the afternoon he brought in 5 specimens of Thomomys townsendii - a distinct surprise to me. I had supposed the gophers here to be the quadratus type. Now the question is: "Are these identical with those near Nampa?" If so, how did they arise or get across
