Castle Creek, 8 mi. S Creana, Cwyhee Co., Idaho,
May 22.
about 22 miles west of Grand View and
18 miles east of Murphy. Here we
talked with a Mr. Bachman, owner
of the store and of several ranches
and he informed me that I could
find [illegible] in abundance at
his ranch here on Castle Creek, so
we slept at Creana last night
and drove to the ranch here where
we have established camp at the
ranch house.
There were no indications of the
presence of Citellus between our last
camp and Mountain Home. However,
when I inquired at the office of the
County Agent, I was informed that
squirrels were being poisoned by the
Bureau of Biological Survey near
King Hill, at Smith's Prairie and at
Mayfield in particular. They were reported
as being quite a problem in the county.
On the way south from Mountain
Home on our way to Grand View we
saw our first [illegible] about 4 miles
south of that town. It was near
this same place that I collected them
last year. They were occupying an
area of rather low astericea blue
